Inside the yardage book: TPC Scottsdale

February 10, 2022

The rowdiest week on the PGA Tour is here.

Home of the WM Phoenix Open since 1987, TPC Scottsdale owns the most iconic stadium hole in golf: the par-3 16th. It’s been built up a bit since Tiger Woods’ roof-raising ace in 1997, but one thing has remained constant: fans will let you hear it—for good shots and bad.

Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish combined to design TPC Scottsdale in 1986, which was specifically built to host this tournament. The 16th is most famous, but the entire back-nine is full of risk-reward opportunities that could make or break a competitor’s round.

Brooks Koepka will look to defend his title after notching his first win since 2019 here last year. He took the closing stretch by storm, going five under in his last six holes, including a pitch in for eagle on the drivable par-4 17th.

With the help of yardage books from Strackaline, a company that scans and provides detailed books of thousands of courses, we can get an in-depth look at each hole players will try to conquer this week in Scottsdale.

Here’s a map of each hole:
